Consider the following:

  • Most people can handle a car, but how many can really drive? From the basics of how to handle a car, we move on to the most important element - how to drive safely and considerately.
  • Assistance and advice is also given in preparing for the Theory and Hazard Perception Test, which you must pass before you can book a practical test.
  • One-stop instruction ensures that from here you can continue with me to Pass Plus and preparation for the Institute of Advanced Motorists test. (See below.)
  • Practical driving lessons are designed around your needs and budget. We progress at your pace, moving on to the next phase only when, but as soon as, you have mastered the current one. (Think about that!)
  • The first lessons are about how the car works and how to handle it. When you can move off up or down a hill, slow down and stop, and negotiate bends and corners on quiet roads, we apply these skills in traffic, which is where you learn to drive. Pass your test with me and you will be given an Open Road voucher, entitling you to great shopping discounts - unique to DIA members.
·        Beginners, who have never driven before, are introduced to the basics of car control and instructed up to and beyond the level necessary to pass the Driving Standards Agency’s driving test.
·       Novices, who have some experience of driving, will start further along the course, but with the same foundations as beginners. Normally weekly lessons last 2 hours, but may be more frequent, depending on pupils’ needs.
·        Refresher courses, for those who may have passed their test some time ago or who have not driven much recently, and who feel that they need more confidence on modern roads, can use their own cars or the tuition car to focus on particular aspects of driving.
·        Intensive courses are available to anyone who would like to pass his or her driving test in a hurry, subject to diary availability. Ideally, this would entail a maximum of 2 lessons of 2 hours each day for as long as required to reach the necessary standard.

·        Pass Plus, the recommended course after passing the driving test, includes motorway and night driving. As a registered Pass Plus and IAM instructor, I can train you beyond the standard driving test, resulting in a certificate that could save you money on car insurance and – more important – the skills of collision avoidance. You will also be equipped to pass the test for admission to the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
