If you hold a provisional driving licence, please consider the following:

  • Most people can handle a car, but how many can really drive? From the basics of how to handle a car, you will move on to the most important element -how to drive safely and considerately.
  • Assistance and advice is also given in preparing for the Theory and Hazard Perception Test, which you must pass before you can book a practical test.
  • Practical driving lessons are designed around your needs and budget. We progress at your pace, moving on to the next phase only when, but as soon as, you have mastered the current one. (Think about that!)
  • One size does NOT fit all, so you will learn according to your preferred learning style. In this way you will not be told what to do, but be coached into deciding for yourself the best course of action. This is an exciting method which enables you to make your own safe choices based on what you will learn about decision-making on the road.
  • During the first lessons you will discover for yourself how the car works and how to handle it. When you can move off up a hill, slow down and stop, and negotiate bends and corners on quiet roads, you will apply these skills in traffic, where you will actually learn to DRIVE.

  • From here you will progress through the DSA's syllabus and beyond, learning manoeuvres, roundabouts, traffic lights, etc, until you can drive competently and safely in all situations, including independent driving and emergency procedures.

  • During your driving course you will be evaluating your own progress, providing me with feedback to enable us to move to the next stage. In this way you will learn from the start how to make informed decisions while driving, without having to ask me what to do. If you encounter a problem, I am there to help you, but you will remain responsible for progressing towards the kind of safe, confident driver you want to be.
  • Then you will be ready to pass the Driving Standards Agency’s driving test and drive on your own. By this time you will be mentally prepared for life after the test - a factor that has been missing for so long, as learners only learn to pass a 40-minute test but not how to stay out of trouble on the roads when driving alone or with their mates in the car.
  • Pass Plus, the recommended course after passing the driving test, includes motorway and night driving. As a registered Pass Plus instructor and advanced driver, I can help you beyond the standard driving test, resulting in a certificate that could save you money on car insurance and – more important – the skills of collision avoidance. You will also be well on the road to passing the test for admission to the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Have a look at the next section as well!

If you already hold a full licence, this is for you:

  • Every day, collisions occur on our roads, caused mostly by qualified drivers and most often involving innocent road-users. Drivers and passengers are killed and seriously injured, but many of these casualties could have been prevented.

  • DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DRIVE DEFENSIVELY and reduce YOUR chances of becoming a road-collision statistic?
  • As an Advanced Driving Instructor, I can give you useful guidance during in-car training, involving assessment and instruction, which can significantly reduce your chances of being a statistic - and probably save you money on fuel and vehicle repairs.
