If you are looking for cheap lessons so that you can pass your test as soon as possible, you won't find them here!

What you will find is value for money, which, in the long run, works out cheaper and safer.

Before asking a driving instructor, "How much do you charge?", rather ask the more important one,

"What do I get for my money?"

If you have read the previous pages you will see that I offer quality.

When comparing prices, find out exactly what you are paying for and how up to date each instructor is with his/her own driving and instructional expertise!

"Pay peanuts and you get monkeys!"

You will find cheaper rates elsewhere, but you need to consider whether you want cheap or good:

  • I don't instruct - I assist you to learn by using the coaching technique. In this way, by thinking for yourself and not relying on an instructor, you will be able to make informed decisions in dealing with traffic situations when driving on your own. Instead of asking "What do I do now?" you will learn how to answer that question yourself.
  • You will learn well according to your needs and will reach a high standard as soon as you can, using modern teaching aids. Lower rates can mean it takes longer to reach this, so you end up paying more in the end.
  • Each lesson will be a challenge to learn something new. I attach great value to the time you spend in my car, and have no need to undercut prices for inferior instruction.
  • You will be able to take home a video recording of your lesson, if you wish.
  • Being committed to Continuing Professional Development, I spend time and money on improving my own driving standards and professional qualifications for my pupils' benefit.
  • On the other hand, you will not be helping me to pay for a nation-wide back-up service and franchise - being independent, I don't have to include these costs in my fees, so can afford to keep them competitive
  • My rates include free guidance and advice on the Theory and Hazard Perception test, instruction by an advanced motorist, and (for a mere £5) access to the Driver Active website for revision after each aspect has been taught and to prepare for the next one.
  • My aim is to get you beyond test standard and equipped to drive defensively as soon as possible.

Contact me (see next page) to find out about hourly rates, and have a look at the following:

Beginners: Introductory offer of £38 for the first 2 hours, covering the controls and how they work, and moving off, steering and stopping. As a bonus, on satisfactory completion of your driving course with me, the final preparation of an hour before your first  (and hopefully only!) practical driving test, the use of the car for the test, and drive home are free.

·        Block booking discounts: Save 5% off the hourly rate if you book and pay for 6 hours in advance (3 x 2-hour lessons), or 10% for 12 prepaid hours (6 x 2-hour lessons).

·        Free lessons: Introduce a friend or relative that pays for a minimum of 6 lessons and earn a free lesson. If you have already passed your test, get a discount off Pass Plus, or a cheque in lieu.

·        Pass Plus: Take the DSA’s recommended Pass Plus course after passing your driving test for only £130 for 6 hours of practical instruction on rural and urban roads, dual carriageways and motorways, night and all-weather driving*, usually 2 x 3-hour sessions. Evaluation takes place during the course, and you do not have a final test. The certificate issued by the Pass Plus section of the Driving Standards Agency could save you £s on car insurance. This can also include instruction for the prestigious Institute of Advanced Motorists test.

*Although we always fit in a night-time session, we cannot always arrange for rain or snow, so these are thoroughly covered in a theory lesson when necessary.
